Fredriksborg Fortress was erected to protect Stockholm at Oxdjupet, the only deep entrance. In 1735, this was Sweden's strongest fortress that came to protect the inlet for over 100 years. The hotel buildings were officers' residences during the same period, which were converted into hotels by SFV in 2011-2015. The hotel was given 15 rooms, period details have been preserved and adaptations have been made for modern hotel operations. The whole of Fredriksborg is classified as a national listed building. Historical guided tours are offered.
The hotel is located on a plateau about 30 meters up. The tower of the fortress reaches 60 meters. Fredriksborg is about 40 minutes by car, bus or RIB boat from Stockholm. The kitchen is of good class with broad know-how and Fredriksborg Hotel has high guest ratings for both hotel and restaurant.
